Celebrity Cruises partners with National Geographic Traveler

February 14, 2005

Celebrity Cruises has always been committed to providing their guests with more than what a typical cruise offers, from the mints on the pillows to the guided shore excursions. Another integral aspect of their high quality has been their Enrichment Programs: lectures, presentations, and classes on topics ranging from world politics to indigenous wildlife. These programs have been very popular with Celebrity passengers, many of whom have a deep interest in discovering more about the world in which they live. Now, Celebrity Cruises has struck up an inventive partnership with National Geographic Traveler in order to further enhance the guests' experience.

Called "Celebrity Discoveries," the program will consist of a series of lectures given by several highly-acclaimed National Geographic Traveler photojournalists. National Geographic Traveler and its photojournalists have always been known for exploring mysteries of the past, as well bringing to life the people and places that make this world so intriguing today.

Celebrity passengers will be given the chance to get insight into some of the men and women behind the camera who have painted the striking images of this highly acclaimed magazine. These photojournalists will speak about many National Geographic stories and images in which they have been involved; it's a great way for passengers to hear about the destinations to which Celebrity will take them.

In addition to the lectures, a National Geographic channel will be featured on the televisions in all Celebrity staterooms, thereby making their accommodations even more inviting. Other opportunities exist as well, such as the chance to receive a special National Geographic Traveler subscription or an autographed book of the lecturers.

So far, three lecturers have been scheduled to appear on Celebrity's ship, Infinity.

Daisann McLane, a contributing editor to National Geographic Traveler, as well as a world traveler and photographer for over twenty years, will appear on February 13th.

On February 27th, Pablo Corral, photojournalist, publisher, and author of five photographic books, will speak to Celebrity guests.

Also, after just recently finishing a book for National Geographic entitled "Treasures of Alaska," Michael Melford will hold a captive audience on March 13th. The entire program is an innovative and exciting feature that will be sure to intrigue and enlighten Celebrity guests, as well as widen their eyes to the world that lies before them.
