Carnival Liberty to Feature "Seaside Theatre" with Enormous Outdoor Poolside TV
May 24, 2005
Carnival Liberty will be the first ship to highlight "Carnival's Seaside Theatre" during its new Mediterranean Cruises this summer. Likely to be played upon this massive 12- by 22-foot screen are Feature Movies, Concerts, Sporting Events and even the ship's own "Morning Show," hosted by the cruise director. Perhaps one of the most extraordinary uses of the big screen is when Carnival hooks up Play Station 2 units to the system for a larger than life video game experience.
Featuring LED (light-emitting diode) technology, the 270-square foot screen is one of the largest outdoor television screens ever installed on a cruise ship and can be seen both day and night. "Carnival already offers the widest variety of shipboard activities at sea and the new LED television screen aboard the Carnival Liberty is just another example of the innovative entertainment options available for guests sailing aboard the 'Fun Ships,'" said Carnival president and CEO, Bob Dickinson.
With complimentary popcorn in one hand and a drink in the other, guests can sit back on oversized lounge chairs and enjoy the poolside screen where, during the evenings, feature films will be shown. Favorites in children's movies will also be included in the programming as will national sporting events.
Also, as part of "Carnival's Seaside Theatre," the ship will play host to legendary deck parties and music videos that feature live shots of the band and guests at the party. Various food and drink specials will be available.
"Seaside Theatre" debuts on July 20, 2005, when Carnival Liberty launches the line's first-ever Mediterranean cruise itinerary. Each 12-day voyage will embark out of Rome and call upon a variety of exciting destinations including Naples, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Venice, Italy; Messina, Sicily; Barcelona, Spain; Cannes, France; and Livorno, Italy.
Also new this fall aboard Carnival Liberty is a 16-day transatlantic voyage out of Rome bringing Carnival Liberty to run six and eight-day Bahamas and Caribbean cruises scheduled from Fort Lauderdale for the winter months. This first-ever for Carnival has already proven so popular the line has planned for a second ship to join Carnival Liberty in the Mediterranean in summer 2006.
