The ms Noordam is Caribbean Bound

June 23, 2005

With the debut of their latest and greatest ship just months away, Holland America has announced that the incredible new ms Noordam will launch her nautical career by offering a variety of Caribbean sailings from the bustling port city of New York, NY beginning with her maiden voyage which is currently scheduled for February 22, 2006.

The ms Noordam will be the fourth and last ship in Holland America's 81,769-ton Vista-Class series. Eighty-five percent of her staterooms will provide stunning ocean views, with 67 percent of all staterooms offering spacious private verandahs. The ms Noordam will also be fully loaded with all of Holland America's latest and most spectacular onboard features and amenities, including the innovative new Signature of Excellence series elements that are being introduced on all of Holland America's new ships, as well as added to all the existing ships in the fleet. Some of the extraordinary Signature of Excellence amenities include plush Euro-top mattresses, flat panel TVs and DVD players in all staterooms, new and exclusive dining options, as well as the opulent and ultra-luxurious Greenhouse Spa and Salon.

The 1,848 passenger Noordam will be offering a total of eleven different 10-13 night Caribbean cruises from New York to exotic destinations in the Southern and Eastern Caribbean including Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Road Town, Tortola; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Dominica, Caribbean; Bridgetown, Barbados; Willemstad, Curacao; Oranjestad, Aruba; Gatun Lake; the Panama Canal; Colon, Panama; Puerto Moin; and Holland America's own private Caribbean island paradise Half Moon Cay. All sailings are roundtrip back to New York with the exception of the 13-night itinerary, which will be debarking in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

"Sailing from New York provides millions in the metro area with easy drive-up access to a winter vacation destined for the sunny Caribbean," said Rick Meadows, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Holland America Cruise Lines. "It's an ideal location for our newest ship." Guests from the area can start their vacation immediately and not spend time on a plane getting to their cruise.

The ms Noordam's Caribbean cruises will also give passengers the opportunity to take advantage of Holland America's exclusive shore excursion program, featuring more than 500 exhilarating Caribbean options for fun, adventure, and relaxation. Some of these exciting activities include such tours as the America's Cup Regatta experience in Philipsburg, swimming with the dolphins in Road Town, Tortola, and the Champagne Catamaran Sail and Snorkel to St. John in St. Thomas. The latter offering is part of the Medallion Collection shore excursions, designed exclusively by Holland America to provide discerning guests with unique experiences and in-depth perspectives into local history, tradition, and culture. In addition, whale-watching, snorkeling, diving, and nature tours will be offered in the new port of Grand Turk.
