Carnival Liberty Has Arrived

July 18, 2005

In an elaborate ceremony on Friday July 15, 2005 in Monfalcone, Italy, Carnival Cruises officially took delivery of its newest cruise ship, the colossal, state-of-the-art, 110,000 ton Carnival Liberty. Upon its public debut on July 20, the 2,974 passenger Carnival Liberty will be the 21st ship in Carnival's extraordinary "Fun Ship" fleet, and will launch the line's first ever set of Mediterranean Cruise itineraries.

Before her official inaugural sailing on July 20, Carnival Liberty will be embarking on a special three-day introductory cruise on July 16, immediately followed by a festive pier-side overnight gala on July 19 in Civitavecchia, Italy, where the ship will be officially named by her ceremonial godmother, Academy award-winning actress Mira Sorvino.

"Carnival Liberty is a spectacular addition to the 'Fun Ship' fleet and we're looking forward to the exciting inaugural festivities, as well as the start-up of our first-ever Mediterranean cruise program which features some of the region's most charming and historic ports of call," said Bob Dickinson, president and CEO of Carnival Cruises.

As one of the largest and most innovative ships at sea, Carnival Liberty is set to revolutionize the on-board cruise ship experience. Among her incredible onboard features hosted on 13 expansive passenger decks are a 13,500 square foot health club and spa, four large swimming pools, waterslide, special children's play area, teen club, a vast array of fine dining options including twin two-level main dining rooms in addition to a variety of other specialty eateries, a reservations-only supper club, world-class casino, 22 different themed bars and lounges, including a sports bar, piano bar, wine bar, dance club, and a 1,500-seat theater showcasing lavish Las Vegas-style stage productions.

Carnival Liberty also boasts some of the most spacious and luxurious accommodations available at sea today. Out of the ship's 1,487 staterooms, 60 percent offer either a spectacular ocean view or a deluxe private balcony.

Carnival Liberty will be offering an exciting variety of 12-day Mediterranean sailings departing from Civitavecchia from July 20 through October 12, 2005, that will include visits to Naples, Venice, and Livorno, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Messina, Sicily; Barcelona, Spain; and Cannes, France.

Beginning on October 24, 2005, Carnival Liberty will depart Civitavecchia on a 16-day transatlantic voyage, arriving in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on November 9. On November 12 she will launch a one-of-a-kind program of six and eight day Bahamas/Caribbean cruises, departing from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. Carnival Liberty will return to Europe in May of 2006 to begin another round of 12-day Mediterranean voyages.
