The Continuing Saga of the Infamous Glass Slipper

July 26, 2005

Disney Cruise Line's spectacular new stage show entitled "Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story," recently made its official debut in the Walt Disney Theatre aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship, just in time for the ship's special West Coast cruises as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the original Disneyland park. The show offers a captivating new take on the classic beloved Disney story about Cinderella and her Prince Charming.

"This enchanting production brings some of the most beloved Disney characters to life in a compelling story the entire family can enjoy together," said Jim Urry, Director of Entertainment for Disney Cruise Line. "Everything from the music to the choreography to the incredible set designs and the humor and romance of the story will delight our guests."

The new Broadway-style musical actually begins where the original story ended, during the wedding celebration of Cinderella and the Prince.

Happiness and good fortune take a drastic turn for the worst when a new character, the evil Fairy Godfather Franco DiFortunato, enters the picture on behalf of Lady Tremaine, Cinderella's wicked stepmother. Granting Lady Tremaine's wish, the evil Fairy Godfather sends the family back in time to break Cinderella's glass slipper, which would of course destroy any chance of her marrying the prince in the first place, creating a whole new ending to the original Cinderella story.

The elaborate set design, lavish costumes, and amazing special effects that Disney is famous for are present throughout this incredible 52-minute production, which also features a rich musical score with six original compositions and two classic Disney songs including the beloved "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" and "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes." "Twice Charmed" was created by the world-renowned Disney Creative Entertainment group, which is also responsible for the creation of "The Golden Mickeys," one of the production shows currently showing aboard the ships of Disney Cruise Line.

"The goal of our division, Disney Creative Entertainment, is to create great shows that will delight our guests in ways they have never before experienced," said executive vice President of Disney Creative Entertainment Anne Hamburger. "It is a combination of moving stories, heartfelt music, and unforgettable stage imagery and design, which we bring to our guests at every performance."

As Disney Cruise Lines largest theatrical production ever aboard one of its cruise ships, the new show includes a cast of 21 performers who are all well-versed in acting, singing, and dancing. This highly talented cast not only performs in "Twice Charmed," but is also responsible for the two other main stage shows performed in the Walt Disney Theatre during all Disney cruises, "The Golden Mickeys" and "Disney Dreams."

After its debut, "Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story" will continue to run aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship throughout the 2005 cruising season, including after the ship returns back to her East Coast Caribbean itineraries later this fall.

In addition to its special West Coast seven-night itinerary to the Mexican Riviera this summer, Disney Cruise Line also offers seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises, three and four-night Bahamas cruises, as well as exclusive land/sea packages that combine the fun and excitement of the Walt Disney World Resort with the nautical enchantment of a Disney Cruise Line voyage to the Bahamas.
