Cruising the World with Cunard

August 09, 2005

Cunard Cruise Line, home to two of the most famous cruise ships in the world, has announced that it will be adding the magnificent Queen Mary 2 to its remarkable 2007 world cruise itineraries. The 151,000 ton Queen Mary 2 just entered the Cunard cruise fleet in January of 2004, and currently holds the title of being the largest passenger cruise ship on earth. Beginning in January of 2007, with the help of her nautical sister, the legendary Queen Elizabeth 2, the Queen Mary 2 will make yet another contribution into Cunard Cruise Line's long line of historic cruise industry firsts.

On January 10, 2007, both Cunard ships will depart from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on an extraordinary, simultaneous set of world cruises. This will be the first world cruise for the Queen Mary 2, the landmark 25th for the Queen Elizabeth 2, and one of many in a long line of renowned world cruises from Cunard Cruise Line. The two iconic ocean liners will depart Fort Lauderdale together, initially sailing on a southward journey that will see Queen Mary 2 circumnavigate the globe in 80 days, while her sister the Queen Elizabeth 2 celebrates her Silver Jubilee World Cruise with an exotic 108-day itinerary. Destinations for these grand world voyages will include ports of call on all seven continents, and in dozens of beautiful and fascinating countries from Australia, to India, to China, to Greece, to South Africa, and so many more!

"As the only true ocean liners in operation today, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 are ideally suited to deliver memorable world voyages," said Jan Swartz, senior vice president of customer service and sales for Cunard Cruise Line. "With these unique dual world cruises, we're continuing Cunard's legacy of providing distinctive and adventurous travel experiences that recreate the bygone era of glamorous ocean travel. Our guests are sure to bring home lasting memories and friendships from these historic journeys that will last a lifetime." Swartz also added that guests aboard both ships will get the opportunity to enjoy the amazing and rare experience of the two Cunard Queens initially sailing side by side out of port from Ft. Lauderdale, until they each venture off onto their own distinct global paths. The famous ships will rendezvous again one more time when they arrive together on February 20, 2007 in Sydney Harbor, Australia.

The 2007 Cunard world cruises will continue an on-going legacy that Cunard began when it introduced the very first world cruise all the way back in 1922. Guests aboard these world-famous circumnavigations of the globe will be able to travel amongst a luxury and style that is truly second to none in the cruise industry. From some of the most spacious, comfortable, and opulent accommodations at sea, to more delectable fine dining options than you could ever imagine, a Cunard Cruise is truly something that has to be experienced to be believed!

Both Cunard world cruises are also available in a series of shorter, segmented voyages ranging from 22 to 102 days in length. Each individual segment can be booked separately. Passengers that book now will also enjoy a very special $300 per person, per segment Cunard Cruise Line discount when reserving space on two or more of these spectacular journeys.
