The Shrimp is Sizzling and the Wine is Flowing aboard Seabourn Pride

August 26, 2005

Seabourn Cruises has announced that the intimate and highly luxurious Seabourn Pride will be hosting its third annual Great America Food and Wine Festival this October. The all-suite Seabourn Pride, one of three extraordinary Seabourn Cruise vessels, will depart New York on October 16, 2005 for this very special journey ultimately bound for Nassau, Bahamas.

The 208 very lucky guests that will be aboard the Seabourn Pride for this incredible voyage will have the opportunity to enjoy cooking demonstrations and dinner menus featuring signature dishes by some of America's most acclaimed chefs, as well as wine tastings and pairings featuring an impressive array of award-winning American vintages. Optional shore excursions for this very exclusive itinerary will also highlight the regional cuisines in many of the magnificent east coast ports of call that the Pride will be visiting.

Guest chefs scheduled to appear aboard Seabourn Pride include Charlie Palmer, who is one of only three top chefs elected to this year's Forbes Magazine Celebrity 100 list of the biggest movers and shakers. Also appearing will be chef Sue Torres, whose Mexican-inspired eatery Sue's in New York City has received nothing but unrelenting praise and high regards from esteemed publications including the New York Times, New Yorker Magazine, and Vogue.

And finally, Jean Marie LaCroix, whose eponymous restaurant on Philadelphia's famous Rittenhouse Square was named the "best new restaurant in the United States" by Esquire Magazine in 2003, and Philadelphia's "best new restaurant in a decade" by Philadelphia Magazine.

Wine consultant Rita Faires of Intervine will also join the cruise to host tastings and present guests with suggested pairings of classic American vintage wines to accompany their dinners on board.

Destinations for Seabourn Pride's America Food and Wine Festival will include many of America's most beautiful colonial cities, including Newport, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Mt. Vernon, Yorktown, Charleston, Savannah, Amelia Island and Port Canaveral. Many ports of call will also feature a number of specially created culinary-themed shore excursions.

Some of these special excursions will include a comparative tasting of Philly Cheese Steaks on site at Gen's and Pat's in Philadelphia, a classic luncheon feast of steamed blue crabs at Bo Brooks' crab shack in Baltimore, a fascinating tour and lesson on Charleston's "low country" culinary heritage, and a walking tour of Savannah which includes a family-style lunch of Southern specialties at the famous Mrs. Wilkes' Boardinghouse.
