Disney Cruises: Not just for little kids!

February 23, 2006

You know it's true because you were once one yourself: teenagers are hard to please. From family movie night, to the dinner that wasn't pizza, to the waking up in the morning for school.sometimes it can be tough. Even when it comes to vacations. Especially when it comes to vacations. Isn't it good to know that there is an option out there that will surely point a smile on their faces? Disney Cruises.

Disney Cruise Line's elegant ocean liners sail to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, with excitement never far from the horizon. The two amazing cruise ships in the fleet.Disney Wonder and Disney Magic.make sure that passengers of all ages have tons of fun. Of course, it's probably easy to imagine the wide-eyed wonderment of the little kids onboard, but Disney cruises are not just for the pre-teen and toddler Mouseketeers. Teenagers will find that Disney cruises have everything that they could ask for out of a vacation, not to mention features that no other cruise line offers. (Actually, Disney cruises are wonderful for the grown-ups, too, but let's concentrate on the terrible teens for now.)

Located in the ships' faux funnels on deck 11, The Stack (Disney Cruises' Magic) and Aloft (Disney Cruises' Wonder) provide a practically endless array of fun for kids 13-17. It's open all day (and half the night) and filled with plush couches, a soda and smoothie bar, internet access, plasma-screen TVs, MP3 players loaded with popular music, board games, and other chill-out necessities.

But that's just scratching the surface; there are many highly-trained and totally-cool counselors onboard who organize a myriad of activities and entertainment options, like dance parties, trivia games, and teen-only excursions on Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.

On a side note, parents and those 18 or over, Castaway Cay is an island in the Bahamas that's great for the entire family, and we'll get back the teenagers in a moment. But for you guys, this place is paradise. Serenity Bay, a luxurious private retreat for adults, gives grown ups the chance to pamper themselves with things like an open-air cabana massage, a frozen concoction at the Castaway Air Bar, or simply a quiet spot by the surf where you can dig your toes further into the sand.

Okay.snap out of that reverie, and let's get back to the teenagers. On Castaway Cay, they can participate in lots of adventure sports, like biking, kayaking, snorkeling, and more. There are lots of games that will give your kids a chance to meet new friends and have more fun than they thought possible.

Explore the ship on Digihunt, a scavenger hunt using digital cameras, Morse code, Disney trivia, and more. Join the party at the H2O Splashdown. Dance at the moonlit Glow Jam, where fashion accessories include glow sticks and bracelets or Flashback '70s, '80s and '90s with retro hits of the past.

Those are only some of the examples in which teenagers can have fun on their own. They'll enjoy time with the entire family when they eat in the great restaurants onboard the ship, like the main dining rooms Triton's (Wonder) and Lumiere's (Magic, Animator's Palate, which has an interior that actually comes alive with color as you dine, and Parrot Cay, a place where the flavors of the islands are delivered right to your table!

There's also a whole list of family-fun activities and entertainment with Disney Cruises, such as musicals, contests, Disney movies, and much more. Basically, there's so much for teenagers to enjoy onboard, that you'll never have to argue over what to do on vacation again!
