Oceania Cruise Food
Positioned as the cruise line of choice for the discerning traveler seeking world-class cuisine, a "country club atmosphere," and destination-oriented itineraries, Oceania Cruises offers elegant service on three intimately-appointed passenger ships: the Regatta, the Insignia, and the Nautica.
News of Oceania's executive chef has traveled far and wide and it has become clear that Jacques Pepin's reputation precedes him. The master chef, food columnist, cookbook author, television host, and former personal chef to three French heads of state, is responsible for the creation of the Oceania cruise menu.
Passengers are free to indulge in the experience of Pepin's creations in the Grand Dining Room or choose from more casual cuisine in one of the ship's many smaller restaurants and cafes. It is, without question, the finest dining experience available at sea.
Oceania Cruise Food - The Grand Dining Room
A hand-painted fresco ceiling tops the Grand Dining Room where a tuxedo-clad wait staff serves elegant six course meals to tables sparkling with Villeroy and Boch china and European crystal. A sample Oceania cruise menu includes exquisite selections such as sliced proscuitto with arugula and shaved parmesan; black mussels in white wine, tomatoes, and garlic bread; minestrone Genovese; Roma tomato quinquonce with confit of cherry tomatoes and basil dressing; fettucine alfredo; and grilled swordfish filet with pesto mashed potatoes, roast pepper compote and sautéed cherry tomatoes. Menu selections are punctuated with an intermezzo, in this case, a cherry maraschino following the salad course.
Oceania Cruise Food - The Polo Grill
The Polo Grill boasts a classic steakhouse atmosphere, offering a selection of aged beef and fine seafood. A sample Oceania cruise menu might include a colossal shrimp trio with spicy cocktail sauce; lobster bisque topped with morsels of roasted lobster; beefsteak tomato and sweet onion salad; a 32-ounce King's cut prime rib served bone-in with wild mushroom ragout; and a slice of caramelized New York cheesecake.
Oceania Cruise Food - Toscana
Capturing the flair and the essence of Tuscany, Toscana serves delicious Italian cuisine in a romantic atmosphere. A sample Oceania cruise menu from Toscana might include carpaccio di manzo (thinly sliced prime beef tenderloin topped with arugula, aged Parmagiano Reggiano shavings and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and lemon infusion); fritto di calamari con salse a scelta (lightly dusted crispy baby calamari served with spicy marinara or aioli sauce); zuppa di fagioli ala Toscana (hearty Tuscan bean soup with homemade quadrucci pasta); gnocchi di patate al pesto (gnocchi in a creamy pesto sauce); and osso buco Milanese (tender veal shank slow oven braised in a porcini-enhanced stock served with saffron-infused risotto.)
Oceania Cruise Food - The Terrace Café
The Terrace Cafe serves breakfast and lunch buffets, in addition to Mediterranean-style "Tapas on the Terrace" during cocktail hour. Sample Oceania cruise food selections in this casual eatery might include items from the salad bar, hot or cold buffet, carving board, pasta ala minute, make-your-own pasta station, and the baker's corner.
Oceania Cruise Food - Waves
Arguably the most casual eatery onboard the Oceania ships, Waves is a poolside restaurant serving Oceania cruise food including traditional barbecue, fresh salads, sandwiches, and homemade ice cream.
